Majority university and higher education teachers satisfied with job

26 Jun 2023 - With 30 years of work experience, university and higher education teachers will earn from R26 607 to R69 971 monthly. Of the employees who participated in the survey, 41% have no children. This is the conclusion of research carried out by Mywage.co.za, in 2023.

Workers with 25 years of work experience earn the highest salary: between R31 934 and R71 960 per month. Veteran people in this job with 30 years worth of experience can earn an hourly wage between R137 and R359 per hour.

University and higher education teachers mostly female

Of the respondents, 61% are female and 39% are male. 59% of people in this job are parents of at least 1 child. Workers who answered the survey are mostly between 30 and 39 years of age.

Average working week of 40 hours

On average, workers work 40 hours per week. Coverage by collective bargaining amongst people in this job is 3%, while 97% are not covered by a collective agreement, according to our survey.
