Majority blacksmiths, hammersmiths and forging press workers satisfied with job

22 Mar 2024 - With 20 years of experience, blacksmiths, hammersmiths and forging press workers will earn between R10 991 and R32 893 per month. Workers get an hourly wage that ranges from R56 to R169 after working for 20 years. This is the conclusion of research carried out by Mywage.co.za, in 2024.

Based on our survey, employees with 25 years of work experience earn the highest salary: between R11 701 and R35 192 per month. Based on 20 years of work experience, workers in this occupation will earn between R56 and R169 per hour.

The age group for workers who answered the survey was mostly between 24 and 29 years of age. 60% of people in this job have 1 child or more. 98% says they are male, while 2% entered female as their gender.

Average working week of 39 hours

Workers in this occupation work 39 hours per week on average. According to our survey, coverage by collective bargaining among workers in this occupation is set at 2%. 98% are not covered by a collective agreement.

Coworkers mostly male

In most cases, workers in this occupation report that the majority of their coworkers are male. Of the participating employees, 45% work in a multinational organisation. 20% of people in this job state that they have no permanent contract for their job. Workers mostly work in organisations consisting of 500 or more people. 38% of people in this job have worked 5-10 years since their first job. 80% of workers in this occupation state that they have a permanent contract for the work that they are doing.
