Job satisfaction high among construction managers

20 Dec 2023 - 10 years of work experience reaps construction managers a salary ranging from R21 135 to R47 136 per month. Since starting their first job, 31% of people in this job have worked fewer than 5 years. This is the conclusion of research carried out by Mywage.co.za, in 2023.

Highest salary for construction managers with 20 years of experience: R27 926 to R60 594 per month

Based on our survey, workers with 20 years of work experience earn the highest salary: between R27 926 and R60 594 per month. Veteran workers, working for at least 30 years, receive between R121 and R300 per hour.

80% says they are male, while 20% entered female as their gender. Of the workers who participated in the survey, 31% have no children. People in this job who answered the survey are mostly between 40 and 49 years of age.

Employees work 41 hours per week on average. Coverage by collective bargaining amongst employees is 2%, while 98% are not covered by a collective agreement, according to our survey.

31% of construction managers fewer than 5 years of work experience

For most employees, the majority of their coworkers are male. The majority of employees work in organisations of 500 or more employees. People in this job who do not have a permanent contract for the work they are performing, added up to 14% of respondents. 46% of all participating employees work in a multinational organisation. 31% of people in this job have worked fewer than 5 years since their first job. 86% of workers in this occupation state that they have a permanent contract for the work that they are doing.

In the survey, 9% of the people in this job choose 'highly dissatisfied' as their job satisfaction level. On the whole, workers in this occupation feel satisfied about their job. This feeling is shared by 42% of the workers in this occupation.

Wage dissatisfaction high among construction managers

Of all surveyed employees, 26% feel in between satisfied and dissatisfied about their salary. 41% of the employees reports to be dissatisfied with their wage.
