This is made clear in research by Mywage.co.za, conducted in 2023.

Highest salary for graphic and multimedia designers with 25 years of experience: R20 216 to R44 701 per month

Based on our survey, workers with 25 years of work experience earn the highest salary: between R20 216 and R44 701 per month. Veteran workers, working for at least 30 years, receive between R64 and R193 per hour.

53% of the respondents are female, 47% are male. The age group for workers in this occupation who answered the survey was mostly between 30 and 39 years of age. 38% of people in this job are parents of at least 1 child.

Average working week of 40 hours

Workers work 40 hours per week on average. According to our survey, coverage by collective bargaining among employees is set at 1%. 99% are not covered by a collective agreement.

Coworkers mostly female

Workers who have a permanent contract for the work they are performing, add up to 81%. 38% of all participating employees work in a multinational organisation. 19% of people in this job state that they have no permanent contract for their job. Workers mostly work in organisations consisting of 500 or more people. In most cases, employees report that the majority of their coworkers are female. Since starting their first job, 41% of employees have worked fewer than 5 years.

The survey shows that 9% of the workers feel highly dissatisfied about their position. In general, most workers are satisfied with their position. This is the case for 36% of the workers.

Wage dissatisfaction high among graphic and multimedia designers
